What are the kbbreview Retail & Design Awards?
The kbbreview Retail & Design Awards are simply the biggest awards in the kitchen and bathroom independent retail industry.
Organised by the leading business magazine in the sector, kbbreview, it’s the event everyone wants to attend and they’re the trophies everyone wants to win.
Each year we gather hundreds of the biggest names in the sector together at a huge black-tie celebration and it is, by far, the largest and longest-running awards event in the industry – in 2024 we celebrated our 30th anniversary.
Spectacular entertainment, celebrity hosts, amazing food and an incredible after-party combine to make it the premium networking and social date in the calendar.
But, at its core, the kbbreview Retail & Design Awards is about showcasing and rewarding the astonishing skills of independent kitchen and bathroom retailers and designers. They are at the heart of the event and our inherent goal is to highlight the true masters of those disciplines.
We have categories for outstanding project design as well as the best in retail, showrooms, rising stars, installation and supply.
And not only is it totally FREE to enter, all shortlisted retail, design and installer finalists are given two free tickets to attend the event.
So what have you got to lose? Click here to see all the categories.

What’s new for 2025?
We have tweaked the project cost boundaries for the bathroom design categories. They are now:
Bathroom Designer of the Year: project cost up to £15,000*
Bathroom Designer of the Year: project cost £15,000 – £30,000
Bathroom Designer of the Year: project cost over £30,000
We have also tightened up the criteria for the Retailer of the Year and Showroom of the Year categories. Now only retailers with ten showrooms or less can enter.
* We very much encourage en suites and cloakrooms in this category.
Who can enter?
Our categories cover retail, design, installation, and supply. The retail and design categories are open to any retailers and designers of kitchen and bathroom projects in the UK and Ireland. Independents, multiples and franchisees are all welcome to enter and it’s totally FREE. There are some caveats for multiples and franchises so please check the individual category criteria carefully.
How much does it cost to enter?
Absolutely nothing. The kbbreview Retail & Design Awards is completely FREE to enter and always has been for 30 years. In fact, all shortlisted retail, design and installation finalists get two seats at the event for FREE too.
What’s the closing date?
Entries close at 5pm on Thursday, November 14, 2024. There will be no extensions.
When is the event?
The winners will be revealed on Thursday, April 24th, 2025 at a spectacular black tie event in the iconic Tower Ballroom in Blackpool.
What are the design categories?
TThe design categories are open to ANY designers of kitchen and bathroom projects that have been installed in a real residential home. In other words, they are not for concept or showroom designs. However, one-off designs for a showhome or developer are eligible but it must be stated on the entry form.
The categories are:
Kitchen Designer of the Year: project cost over £50,000
Kitchen Designer of the Year: project cost £30,000 – £50,000
Kitchen Designer of the Year: project cost up to £30,000
Bathroom Designer of the Year: project cost over £30,000
Bathroom Designer of the Year: project cost £15,000 – £30,000
Bathroom Designer of the Year: project cost up to £15,000
IMPORTANT: Each designer can enter as many categories as they like but only ONE design per category. More than one designer from a single company can enter the same category.
‘Project cost’ is defined as the final sum paid to you by your client. The entry form allows you to declare what is included in that cost e.g. installation.

What are the retail categories?
The retail categories reward the very best retailers and showrooms and are open to ANY retailers of kitchens and bathrooms in the UK and Ireland.
There are some caveats for multiples and franchises so please check the individual category criteria carefully. For example, only retailers with ten showrooms or less can enter and if you have multiple stores you must choose ONE specific showroom to enter e.g. your flagship store, or latest opening. You can’t enter the whole nationwide business as one retailer.
The categories are:
Kitchen Retailer of the Year
Kitchen Showroom of the Year
Bathroom Retailer of the Year
Bathroom Showroom of the Year
New Kitchen Retailer of the Year
New Bathroom Retailer of the Year
Rising Star Award
The Retailer of the Year categories are for the best all round retailers looking at factors including business success, marketing, showroom, customer service and after-sales.
The Showroom of the Year categories look specifically at how well-designed showrooms are and their effectiveness for the target market.
The New Retailer of the Year categories reward new retail businesses that have opened in the 12 months up to the closing date of November 16th 2023.
The development of the pool of new, young talent is so important to the future of the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom retail sector and this is why we introduced the ‘Rising Star’ award. It is open to anyone under 30 years of age on March 4, 2025. You can find out all about the Rising Star Award here https://www.kbbreview.com/risingstar/.
As with 2024, for 2025 you can enter the Retailer of the Year and Showroom of the Year categories separately. Up until last year, one form entered you into both, but you can now choose which you want to do. However, judges reserve the right to recommend a business is entered into both if warranted.
Read more about the individual categories here.
Are there categories for suppliers, manufacturers or service providers?
Yes, the Supplier Team of the Year Award highlights the important work done by the people who work for those companies that supply the independent kitchen and bathroom retail network.
These brands are made up of teams of hard-working and dedicated people and we want to hear all about what they do to keep those retailers stocked, happy and full of customers.
We are defining ‘supplier’ as anyone who provides products AND/OR services to the independent kitchen and bathroom retail network. So we’re including product manufacturers and distributors but also service providers such as software, marketing support etc.
A team can be any size (as long as it’s more than one person) but that team MUST perform a specific function within the company. For example – sales, marketing, logistics, warehouse, design, admin etc. In other words, you can’t nominate the whole company as one ‘team’.
The one exception to that rule is if your company has less than TEN members of staff and they perform multiple roles as one team.
Click here to find out more about entering the Supplier Team of the Year award.
Are there categories for fitters and installers?
Yes, the Installation Company of the Year category is open to any kitchen and/or bathroom installation company operating in the UK or Ireland. This includes retail businesses with a specific installation arm.
Click here to find out more about entering the Installation Company of the Year award.
How are the winners chosen?
The judging process for the kbbreview Retail & Design Awards is unique in its focus and detail. We have several stages to make sure the entering is easy but winning is hard!
You can see the full judging process here.
What happens if I get shortlisted?
The shortlist of finalists will be revealed in a very special episode of The kbbreview Podcast just before Christmas 2024.
In the design categories, where individuals are shortlisted, each finalist will receive two FREE tickets to the awards event in Blackpool on April 24, 2025. Two free tickets are the maximum given to any individual, even if they are shortlisted in more than one category. If different individuals from the same company are shortlisted, then they will receive two seats each.
In the Retailer, Showroom, New Retailer, Rising Star and Installation Company of the Year categories, named shortlisted companies will receive two FREE tickets. Two free tickets are the maximum given to any company even if they are shortlisted in more than one category.
In the Supplier Team of the Year category, named companies will receive one FREE ticket. If the company has already booked a table of ten, there will be no refunds and the extra ticket will be sat on a different table.
Can I nominate someone for the special achievement award?
No, the Special Achievement Award is chosen by the editorial team of kbbreview and goes to an outstanding individual who has made a significant contribution to the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom industry.
Can I speak to someone?
If you’ve got any questions at all about entering or booking your seats and tables, feel free to give Tracey a call on 020 8515 2113 or [email protected].
